Sadly Mick Thomson died on 7th September and although I didn’t know Mick, talking to a lot of Hunt Supporters and Hunt Members he was well thought of in and around Berwickshire. Mick was a true countryman and enjoyed all aspects of country life. He was the shepherd at Bedshiel for many years and worked on and around Westruther Moor. Louise Aitken-Walker said if you saw Mick on a hunting day he was like a guardian angel - you crossed the Fangrist Burn at your peril unless you followed Mick Thomson, the same was true with the treacherous Dogden Moss – don’t attempt it unless you’ve got the Mick Thomson sat nav instructions. Mick leaves behind his wife Kathleen and his two daughters Lynn and Julie.
